Abstract:Skin xerosis is a common symptom that indicates of impaired skin barrier function. Such diseases as atopic dermatitis (AD) and ichthyosis are associated with genetic mutations of epidermal differentiation genes, while in other diseases (contact dermatitis, eczema) epidermal barrier disorders occur as a result of inflammatory process in the skin, mechanical or chemical damage, significantly affecting the course of the pathological process.
