“…For example, G-CSF (332), a hydrophobic cytokine (174), and IL-2 (333) have been shown to adsorb to glass. The binding of IgG1 to plastic has been reported (334), and BSA, like other proteins, exhibits some propensity to bind to stainless steel (335). Consequently, many biophysical studies have been published on protein adsorption, especially as it applies to processing and protein instability (336)(337)(338)(339)(340).…”

“…Thus, lower adsorption capacities are obtained. In our previous study (Mutlu et al 2007), the 1/n value for the bare stainless steel surface was reduced from 0.88 to 0.83 after treating the surface by HEMA monomer in the PlzP system. The Freundlich model yielded the best fit with the highest R 2 value of 0.995; thus, the Freundlich isotherm was the most suitable equation adsorption equilibrium to describe the attachment of biofilm forming bacteria on stainless steel.…”

“…In lower adsorption capacity of a surface, the heterogeneity of the adsorbing molecules normally increases, and the Freundlich constant, 1/n, gets closer to zero. In this study, the 1/n value for the bare stainless steel surface was reduced from 0.58 to 0.39 after treating the surface by EDA monomer in PlzP system (Mutlu et al 2007). As the value of b decreases, the affinity between the retaining material and retained material increases.…”

“…RF-plasma system (PICO, Diener Electronics, Germany) was used for modification processes (Mutlu et al 1997;Cokeliler and Mutlu 2002;Mutlu et al 2007). Graphite leads were modified by employing VP monomer as precursor at various plasma polymerization parameters, such as discharge power (5, 10, 15, and 30 W) and exposure time (5, 15, 30, and 60 min).…”
