Abstract:Transverse compression or hypoplasia of the maxilla is a common problem in children, which could be treated at an early age; however, when left untreated during growth and development, it would cause alterations in the cranio-cervical maxillofacial region, evidenced in the esthetics and function of the stomatognathic system.
