Modified carbon fabric electrodes: preparation and electrochemical behavior toward amaranth electrolysis

Abstract: The electrochemical behavior of non-modified, Pt-modified, and Pt/polyaniline-modified carbon fiber textile electrodes was studied through a series of electrolyses, under potentiostatic conditions, on an amaranth/sulfuric solution in the presence or absence of chloride ion. The morphology of the dispersed Pt, PANI, and PANI/Pt coatings was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. Scanning electrochemical microscopy confirmed that the textile surface was effectively modified by the electrocatalytic material. C… Show more

“…Valuable information can be extracted from the Warburg element, which is always attributed to the mass transport due to diffusion. The W‐T component was evaluated from the following the equation: normalWnormalT=l2Dswhere l is the length of diffusion layer and D is the binary electron‐ion diffusion coefficient.…”

“…To discard the presence of impurities on the surface of the fabric, a previous analysis (not included) by FT-IR-ATR was carried out. The technical characteristics of the activated carbon textiles are reported in Table . , The ACT electrodes were prepared with strips of 1 cm × 2 cm area cut from the textile. To ensure a proper electric contact between the textile samples and the 2 mm copper rods used as a support, they were glued (the tip was flattened to improve the electrical contact) using CircuitWorks conductive epoxy resin by Chemtronics.…”
