Modified Dynamic Plane Source Method for Measuring Thermophysical Parameters of Solids

Abstract: The authors proposed and experimentally verified a new method of measurements of thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of homogeneous and isotropic materials with thermal conductivities of <2 W · m −1 · K −1 . The theoretical model and the experimental arrangement of the method, referred to as the modified dynamic plane source method, are described. The influence of the floating temperature of the heat sink was analyzed and included into the evaluation. The method was both theoretically and experimental… Show more

“…Extended dynamic plane source method ( Figure 1) is one of the dynamic methods with heat gradually supplied, while one-dimensional conduction heat transfer is formed. e DPS method is modified in order to measure the properties of slow-conducting materials with the value of thermal conductivity of λ ≤ 2 W·m −1 ·K −1 [36,37]. Resistance sheet operates as a heat source and the temperature sensor (by measuring the changes in electrical resistance).…”

“…The so-called flash method has a large spectrum of realizations [8]- [11]. Different contact impulse methods with different position of the heat source were described in [11]- [12]. The heat sources in this case usually have a meander shape.…”
