Modified Tubular Carbon Nanofibers for Adsorption of Uranium(VI) from Water

Abstract: Carbon nanomaterials with a hollow tubular nanofiber structure is of great interest for uranium(VI) adsorption from water. Their unique structure not only exposes a good number of functional groups and high surface area but also shows quick ion transport capacity. However, finding a simple method to prepare a new carbon structure is challenging. Herein, a new tubular hypercross-linked polymer is fabricated in a single pot using α,α′-dichloro-p-xylene (DCX) as a monomer. After carbonization, hollow tubular nano… Show more

“…Thus, the technological scheme of underground leaching provides for the leaching of uranium metal in the natural occurrence of the ore deposit. An indispensable condition for its use is the presence of waterproofing in the roof and soil of the ore layer [2][3][4][5][6][7][8].…”

“…Consequently, the most acceptable solution for the development of deposits of such fields are hexagonal cell penetration schemes that provide an injection wells to pumping ratio at the level of 2.5-4: 1 with a simultaneous increase in interwell distances in the injection system. During the development of the North Karamurun field, the use of a hexagonal well network with a radius of 40-50 m, as the main drilling scheme, has fully justified itself, and is an illustrative example for other fields [1][2][3][4][5][6][7].…”

“…Functionalized-tubular carbon nanofibers show outstanding sorption properties in terms of both uptake kinetics and maximum sorption capacity. However, the exciting results reported by Ahmad et al [106] were obtained at pH 8, while most of the leachates are usually produced by acidic treatment (except with carbonate leaching and so on).…”
