Modular Architecture of Value-Added Applications for German Healthcare Telematics

Abstract: The electronic health card and the telematics infrastructure are widely discussed in the German public. However, the applications which aim at improving the healthcare system by utilizing the capabilities of the service oriented healthcare telematics have hardly been addressed so far. The article discusses the potential of such value-added applications that are not subject to the limitations of current information systems in medical institutions and open up new potentials. To this end, overall requirements of … Show more

“…Cluster 4a (10 articles) is characterized by articles that focus on HIS issues related to the infrastructure level, spanning the research foci of HIS strategy, creation, and deployment. Content-wise, the cluster deals mainly with technical feasibility and desirability of HISs, including topics such as the configuration of modular infrastructures that support a seamless exchange of HISs within and between hospitals (Dünnebeil et al, 2013 ). Moreover, papers in this cluster address HIS practicability by determining general criteria that are important for the design of health information systems (Maheshwari et al, 2006 ) or conduct HIS application tests by carrying out prototypical implementations of communication infrastructures.…”

“…In this context, first attempts to systematically create culturerelated modules (Janson, Peters and Leimeister, 2014) is worth mentioning. The integration of the presented findings in settings that deal with whole service architectures and portfolios (Duennebeil, Sunyaev, Leimeister and Krcmar, 2013) seems promising as well.…”
