Abstract: The phospholipase A 2 (PLA 2 ) superfamily consists of lipolytic enzymes that hydrolyze specific cell membrane phospholipids and have long been considered a central hub of biosynthetic pathways, where their lipid metabolites exert a variety of physiological roles.
