Abstract:Nonlinear two-dimensional (IGWs) in the atmospheres of the Earth and the Sun are studied. The resulting two-dimensional nonlinear equation has the form of a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation with nonlocal nonlinearity, that is, when the nonlinear response depends on the wave intensity at some spatial domain. The modulation instability of IGWs is predicted, and specific cases for the Earth's atmosphere are considered. In a number of particular cases, the instability thresholds and instability growth ra… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
