“…Two cobalt-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) were developed for polyamine detection, wherein a strong emission at about 332 nm was largely quenched by spermine, spermidine, or putrescine [ 69 ]. Since host–guest interactions between the polyamines and the MOFs were involved, the donor-acceptor electron transfer process from polyamines to MOFs generated photoinduced electron transfer (PET), leading to fluorescence quenching.…”

“…25−27 Recently, our group has also investigated MOFs for fluorescence and electrochemical sensing applications. 28,29 Encouraged by our recent findings, we have designed the first MOF-based dual sensor for nicotine detection. Such dual sensors can be highly useful in the preparation of nanocomposites for real-time sensing applications.…”

“…30−32 Here, we report nicotine detection using two Co-based MOFs, BITSH-1 and BITSH-2 (Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Hyderabad). Both the MOFs were synthesized solvothermally as per our recent report 29 (Figure 1). BITSH-1 and BITSH-2 crystallize in the monoclinic P2 1 /n and orthorhombic Pbcn space groups, respectively.…”

“…7 MOFs have been exploited for various applications such as sensing, storage, separation, etc. 8–10 MOFs’ structure tunability offers a unique advantage of putting either redox-active metals or ligands or both in the same framework. This makes MOFs strong candidates for designing multichromic materials.…”
