Molecular analysis of ARF1 expression profiles during development of physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.)

Abstract: A cDNA clone designated arf1 was isolated from a physic nut (Jatropha curcas L.) endosperm cDNA library which encodes a small GTP-binding protein and has significant homology to ADP-ribosylation factors (ARF) in plants, animals and microbes. The cDNA contains an open reading frame that encodes a polypeptide of 181 amino acids with a calculated molecular mass of 20.7 kDa. The deduced amino acid sequence showed high homology to known ARFs from other organisms. The products of the arf1 obtained by overexpression … Show more

“…It is obvious that ARF1 is not developmentally regulated at the translational level, but is regularly expressed as a housekeeping gene, to a certain functional level during early developmental stages, in accordance with previous reports for plants (Kobayashi‐Uehara et al. 2001; Xu & Scheres 2005; Qin et al. 2011), but additional induced protein expression was observed in darkness.…”

“…Similarly, ARF1 of Jatropha curcas is induced in response to abiotic stresses, particularly upon treatment with PEG, which induces osmotic stress, and cold treatment (Qin et al 2011 ).…”
