Abstract:The effect of the water-soluble polymer (partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide, HPAM) in produced water on the demulsification process of the electric field was studied by molecular dynamics simulations. By comparing the coalescence process of oil droplets in the electric field environment with or without HPAM, we find that HPAM in the water phase can promote the coalescence of nearly oil droplets but hinder the deformation and migration of oil droplets. By analyzing the radial distribution function and interact… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
