“…However, microbiological investigations of the hospital environment failed to find the isolate. 26 While M capitatus is considered a ubiquitous environmental organism and part of the normal human gastrointestinal flora, 18 to the authors’ knowledge, there has not been any case reports or studies tracing M capitatus to a hospital fomite. More studies are needed to determine a true correlation between ICU admissions and M capitatus infections.…”

“…Vaux et al (2) assessed the genomic single nucleotide polymorphisms of 73 S. clavata isolates using a mapping approach and obtained two largely homogeneous phylogenetic sublineages. In a recent study, Koç et al (27) evaluated clinical isolates of M. capitatus using repetitive element sequence-based-PCR fingerprinting. On the basis of cluster similarity percentages, five main clones were detected; however, no genetic relationship was observed according to the patients' identity, location, or sample type.…”

“…In report from Spain, 20 out of 25 acute leukemia patients had fungemia with visceral dissemination with 30-day mortality of 52% (26). In a report from Turkey, from 2012 to 2015, a total of 20 S. capitata strains were isolated from onco-haematological and ICU patients in a university hospital (27). It was involved with many outbreaks and contaminated dairy products (25).…”
