Molecular Mapping of Allergen Exposome among Different Atopic Phenotypes

Abstract: Climate change and exposure to environmental pollutants play a key role in the onset and aggravation of allergic diseases. As different climate-dependent patterns of molecular immunoglobulin E (IgE) reactivity have been regionally described, we sought to investigate the evolving allergen exposome in distinctive allergic phenotypes and subtropical weather conditions through a Precision Allergy Molecular Diagnosis (PAMD@) model. Concurrent sensitization to several house dust mites (HDM) and storage mite molecule… Show more

“…Precisely defining the external exposome on a molecular level, along with its potential significance as a clinically significant allergen, is crucial for understanding the diverse range of phenotypes within atopic conditions. This understanding can contribute to personalized diagnoses and treatment approaches [ 73 ]. Figure 2 .…”

“…This heterogeneity should be considered in the diagnosis and treatment of HDM-allergic patients. To this end, several studies have been proposed to understand the molecular exposome of the different regions, and to evaluate how the molecules of an allergenic source may influence the allergic pathology of the patients under study ( 15 , 28 , 30 , 31 ). Gonzalez-Pérez et al ( 32 ) described on a regional scale different patterns of molecular reactivity dependent on climate and other factors, in which the allergens Der p 21, Der p 5 and Der p 7 also appeared as serodominant molecules, in addition to the highly prevalent IgE responses to major HDM allergens, especially in subjects with asthma and atopic dermatitis.…”

“…The primary objective of this post-hoc analysis [7] was to comprehensively evaluate the current eligibility status for house dust mite (HDM) AIT within a selected cohort of young individuals who manifest diverse atopic phenotypes. Through a PAMD@ approach, we sought to discern the appropriateness of initiating HDM AIT in this specific group, considering the varied atopic profiles present among these individuals.…”
