Molecular mechanism and targeted therapy of Hsp90 involved in lung cancer: New discoveries and developments (Review)

Abstract: The exploration of the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways on lung cancer is very important for developing new strategies of diagnosis and treatment to this disease, such as finding valuable lung cancer markers and molecularly targeted therapies. Previously, a number of studies disclose that heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is upregulated in cancer cells, tissues and serum of lung cancer patients, and its upregulation intimately correlates with the occurrence, development and outcome of lung cancer. On th… Show more

“…Additionally, the expression patterns of both HSP90 and ENO1 were found uniformly increased across all UM-EVs. HSP90 is a molecular chaperone reported to be of crucial importance in cancer cell growth and survival owing to its involvement in promoting the MAPK and P13K/AKT pathways [ 80 , 81 ]. In similar fashion, ENO1 is linked to the AKT signaling pathway, is involved in promoting gastric cancer cell proliferation and metastasis and serves as a potential biomarker for certain cancers [ 72 , 74 ].…”

“…The development of target small molecule inhibitors provides an alternative treatment strategy to chemotherapy for lung cancer patients, with improved survival rate and life quality [ 2 , 3 ]. The exploration of the molecular mechanisms in lung cancer is very important for developing new strategies of diagnosis and treatment to this disease [ 4 ]. Novel therapeutic targets together with prognostic biomarkers for lung carcinogenesis have been discovered due to the development of molecular biology techniques [ 5 ].…”
