“…There is no comprehensive red list for the Antillean plants, however; based on our own field experience and information reported by Borhidi and Muñiz (1983), Kelly (1988), Herrera et al (1999), Rankin and Areces (2003), Jiménez et al (2004), Liu et al (2004), Berazaín et al (2005), and Cariaga et al (2008) we believe that the following 14 endemic genera, Antillia, Ciceronia, Ekmaniopappus, Feddea, Harnackia, Herodotia, Herreranthus, Ignurbia, Lescaillea, Rhodogeron, Salcedoa, Shafera, Tetraperone, and Thymopsis are highly threatened and likely to be included within the Critically Endangered category of the World Conservation Union (IUCN, 2001). Two of the endemic genera are endemic to Haiti, Mattfeldia and Osmiopsis, and their conservation status is uncertain.…”
