Molecular subtypes based on ferroptosis-related genes and tumor microenvironment infiltration characterization in lung adenocarcinoma

Abstract: Recently, several molecular subtypes with different prognosis have been found in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). However, the characteristics of the ferroptosis molecular subtypes and the associated tumor microenvironment (TME) cell infiltration have not been fully studied in LUAD. Using 1160 lung adenocarcinoma samples, we explored the molecular subtypes mediated by ferroptosis-related genes, along with the associated TME cell infiltration. The ferroptosis score was constructed using the least absolute… Show more

“…Recently, in lung adenocarcinoma, TME-associated Immu-neScore was confirmed to be a novel predictor for tumor metastasis, relapses, and clinical outcome [12]. Furthermore, Journal of Immunology Research more and more studies have provided evidences that the ImmuneScore can be used to classify lung cancer [13,14]. However, the effects of TME in CRC remained largely unclear.…”

“…To thoroughly investigate specific adjustment mechanisms of each angiogenesis subtype, we obtained 332 angiogenesis clusters-associated DEGs ( Supplementary Table S6 ) with the “limma” package and conducted functional enrichment analysis. Then, a consensus clustering method was utilized to separate patients into two distinct gene clusters (gene cluster A and B) with different prognosis and clinical features on the basis of DEG ( Song et al, 2021 ; Zhang et al, 2021 ; Qing et al, 2022 ; Zhang et al, 2022 ). Consistent with the expected results of the angiogenesis subtypes, we observed significant differences in ARGs expression levels ( Supplementary Figure S4 ).…”

“…Several studies have been conducted to develop different types of prognostic models for patients with LUAD, addressing ferroptosis ( 41 43 ), methylation ( 44 46 ), immune-related genes ( 47 49 ), and the tumor microenvironment (TME) ( 43 , 50 , 51 ) and so on, and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of LUAD. The present study is based on the relationship between FAM and LUAD ( 52 ), and research in this area is still limited.…”
