Molecular typing of industrial strains of Pseudomonas spp. isolated from milk and genetical and biochemical characterization of an extracellular protease produced by one of them
“…The differences in proteolytic activity between the strain F and the strains CIP 7325 and CIP 6913 were also observed by Dufour et al (2008). These authors determined activity using azocasein as substrate and reported that the first strain was highly proteolytic although the activities of the two others were relatively weak.…”

“…These strains had been selected because of their differences in term of proteolytic activity quantified using azocasein as substrate, as described by Dufour et al (2008) (results not shown). By casein zymography, the presence of one electrophoretic band at about 50 kDa was detected suggesting the potential presence of an extracellular protease for all strains (results not shown).…”

“…The caseinolytic potential of these proteases is highly variable and strain dependent (Dufour et al 2008). Some studies have been performed to understand the proteolytic activities on the milk proteins and especially on the casein molecules.…”
“…It was stipulated that whole casein could have a configuration that made it more susceptible to enzyme action (Mitchell and Marshall, 1989). The caseinolytic potential of these proteases is highly variable and strain dependent (Dufour et al, 2008). Some studies have been performed to understand the proteolytic activities on the milk proteins and especially on the casein molecules.…”
Section: Proteolysis Caused By Pseudomonas Fluorescensmentioning
Proteolysis of milk during storage by two strains of Pseudomonas NCIMB 702085 (414) and NCIMB 701274 (416) was investigated using the Urea PAGE method. Pseudomonas fluorescens enzymes were also extracted and purified by dialysis before inoculation into UHT skim milk in an attempt to partially purify the enzyme. Results showed that dialysis removed some peptides and amino acids which would interfere with the assay procedure. The method also confirmed that Pseudomonas fluorescens NCIMB 701274 (416) was more proteolytic than Pseudomonas NCIMB 702085 (414). Thus, Urea PAGE is a useful method for monitoring proteolysis in milk by Pseudomonas fluorescens.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
