Abstract: ZusammenfassungDer Mönchspfeffer hat eine bewegte Geschichte mit zahlreichen Namen und erlebt in Europa mittlerweile seine dritte Blüte. Schon vor 2500 Jahren wurde er in der Frauenheilkunde eingesetzt, heute der fast exklusive Fachbereich. Trotz der langen Tradition gibt es aber nach wie vor einige offene Fragen und auch Widersprüche.
