Mondor disease: an uncommon complication in dermatological surgery

Abstract: We present an unusual case of Mondor disease (MD) occurring secondary to elliptical excision of a naevus on the chest wall. MD is a rare superficial thrombophlebitis classically occurring on the anterolateral thoracoabdominal wall. It can be idiopathic, can be due to trauma, breast malignancy, hypercoagulable states or can be iatrogenic, most commonly arising from breast surgery. The condition is generally self-resolving within weeks.
