Monitoring and Control Framework for Business Processes in Ubiquitous Environments

Abstract: Abstract-Business processes in production and logistics need to be monitored in order to comply with official regulations, to schedule and plan the production or transport route, to ensure quality and find errors, but also to optimize the process itself. Often this monitoring needs to be done in real-time, e.g. to be able to see a potential error and take corrective actions in time. To monitor only traditional Key Performance Indicators might not be sufficient though as automatization in production and logisti… Show more

“…An increase in process efficiency can be achieved by using monitoring data to optimise the process, as well as performing integrated planning based on the available process data. One possibility in this area is to identify important goals and success factors and use them to define KPIs [24]. Defined KPIs are monitored in order to find deviations from the reference values, enabling immediate reaction and the provision of corrections to process execution.…”

“…Data of the operation are scattered in partners' storages and the data sharing is in reluctance. Especially the data that can imply the performance [3,10]. Towards two major objectives of the transportation, a shipment should arrive safely and on-time, the existing traceability system limits the evaluation of the service performance regarding these objectives as follows:…”
