Monitoring periodically national land use changes and analyzing their spatiotemporal patterns in China during 2015–2020

Abstract: High-resolution mapping and monitoring of national land use/cover changes contribute significantly to the knowledge of the interaction between human activities and environmental changes. China's Land Use/cover Dataset (CLUD) for 2020 and its dynamic changes in 2015-2020 were developed to extend the CLUD to over 30 years (i.e., the 1980s to 2020 at 5-year intervals) by integrating remote sensing big data and knowledge-based human-computer interaction interpretation methods. This integrating method for CLUD 2020… Show more

“…Therefore, LUCC has become a core content of worldwide environmental change studies [70,71], and research results have been emerging since the 1990s. In China, Prof. Liu Jiyuan's team has continued to carry out research on national LUCC and achieved outstanding results [57,72], laying a foundation for national and regional research on SLU. In recent years, LUCC research has developed into an independent and interdisciplinary research field: Land Change Science (LCS) [73], and the Global Land Plan (GLP) has organized a land system science research group, forming Land System Science (LSS) [74][75][76].…”

“…With reference to Xu Xinliang et al [53] and the LUCC classification system issued by Liu Jiyuan's research team et al [54][55][56][57], and in combination with Yunnan's actual situation and research needs, the land use classification system of the province in three phases is determined (Table 1).…”

“…In addition, some scholars concentrated on land use scenario simulation and prediction. In terms of research methods, the change in land use structure and quantity is analyzed by the land-use transfer matrix [6], the land-use change index [7] land-use degree [8] and so on. Principal component analysis [9], geographical weighting model [10] and random forest model [8] are widely used to explain the driving mechanisms of land use change.…”

“…This comprehensive approach enables the acquisition of 1:100,000-scale land use-type vector data, which is subsequently utilized to generate 1 km grid-based percentage ecosystem type data. Notably, the accuracy of the primary land use types surpasses 90% through rigorous field validation procedures [30,31]…”
