Monitorização neurológica por meio do eletroencefalograma de amplitude integrada na unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal: uma revisão integrativa de literatura

Abstract

Introduction: The relatively high proportions of neurological impairments in newborns admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) come mainly from seizures, situations that are difficult to diagnose within neuropediatrics, since in neonates, they can often be evidenced only by disorders electrographic. In addition, some paroxysmal movements can be mistakenly treated as seizures, culminating in iatrogenesis. Thus, the use of the integrated amplitude electroencephalogram (aEEG), constitutes a compact and innovative tool that can be used to assist the diagnosis of seizures in the NICU.
