Monodisperse Dual Plasmonic Au@Cu2–xE (E= S, Se) Core@Shell Supraparticles: Aqueous Fabrication, Multimodal Imaging, and Tumor Therapy at in Vivo Level

Abstract: We herein report aqueous fabrication of well-defined Au@CuE (E = S, Se) core@shell dual plasmonic supraparticles (SPs) for multimodal imaging and tumor therapy at the in vivo level. By means of a modified self-limiting self-assembly based strategy, monodisperse core@shell dual plasmonic SPs, including spherical Au@CuS SPs, Au@CuSe SPs, and rod-like Au@CuS SPs, are reliably and eco-friendly fabricated in aqueous solution. Due to plasmonic coupling from the core and shell materials, the as-prepared hybrid produc… Show more

“…The photothermal conversion efficiencyw as calculated according to the equations reported previously. [22] Cytotoxicity assessment and live/dead cell staining:A 549 cancer cells (1 10 4 cells per well) were seeded and cultured in 96-well plates overnight, followed by incubation with different concentrations of the UCNP-Bi 2 Se 3 nanohybrid for 24 h. The cell viabilities were measured by the standard MTT assay.F or the assessment of the photothermal effect, the procedure was identical to that of the cytotoxicity assessment, except that the samples were subjected to 808 nm NIR irradiation (1.5 Wcm À2 ,6 min per well) before adding MTT to the cell media. In addition, live/dead cell staining was performed to further evaluate the anticancer efficiency of the UCNP-Bi 2 Se 3 nanohybrid in cells, for which the calcein AM/PI costaining method was adopted.…”

“…Combination of metal NPs with vacancy‐doped plasmonic semiconductor nanocrystals together will open the access to unexplored phenomena resulting from the coupling between the collective electronic oscillation at surface of metal NPs and the hole oscillation in the neighboring semiconductors . Many metal‐semiconductor hetero‐nanostructures have been synthesized and the plasmonic properties have been investigated . Jiang et al.…”
