Abstract:1,4-dioxane is an emerging water pollutant with high production volumes and a probable human carcinogen. The incompetence of conventional treatment processes demonstrates a need for an effective remediation strategy. Crystalline nanoporous materials are cost-effective adsorbents due to their high capacity and selective separation in mixtures. This study explores the potency of all-silica zeolites. These zeolites are highly hydrophobic and can preferentially adsorb nonpolar molecules from mixtures. We investiga… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
