Abstract:Lips of brass musicians can be investigated by ultrasound (morphology) and stroboscopy or kymography (function). These non-invasive imaging techniques are relevant in musicians? medicine for assessing the occupational (in)capacity of professional brass players. In cases of occupational lip injuries or overuse syndromes it often takes long-term rehabilitation programmes to restore the ability to play the instrument. Sometimes even an occupational disability may result.
