Morphology and Mechanical Properties of Polyamide 6/Polystyrene Blends Prepared by Diffusion and Subsequent Polymerization of Styrene in Polyamide 6 Pellets

Abstract: Polyamide 6 (PA6)/polystyrene (PS) blend pellets were prepared by diffusion and subsequent polymerization of styrene in commercial PA6 pellets and processed into cuboid-shaped bars by injection molding. The average PS particle size in the bars was 240 nm, slightly higher than that in the blend pellets (120 nm), showing that only limited coalescence occurs during injection molding. The mechanical properties of PA6/PS bars were investigated by tensile, flexural, and notched impact tests. A 41% increase in notche… Show more

“…Nylon6 is about 160-300 MPa [48], which is less than 1% of Young modulus of the aluminium alloy. The loss of thermal properties of polyamide materials occurs close to 200°C, which is a very low temperature compared with the temperature at which the frame failure occurs.…”

“…The applied material properties (elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio) were obtained from the literature (Table 1). [25][26][27][28][29][30] The PDL around the avulsed tooth was deactivated to simulate a blood clot without attachment, allowing compressive pressure between the root and the bone socket, but not tension. its notional "center-of-resistance" that was calculated along the longitudinal socket axis, and located at two-thirds the length from the socket apex to the height of the enamel-cementum junction.…”

“…A thermoanalytical technique that is DSC, which is used to examine the degree of crystallinity and polymorphic transitions or thermal transitions involving energy changes throughout the method of formulation. The phase transition temperature of 5-FU in drug-loaded pellets was analyzed by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (SIIO 6300, SIIO, Japan) in perforated aluminum sealed pans at a heating rate of 5 C/min from 30 to 400 C using nitrogen as blanket gas (50 ml/s) (Tan et al, 2018).…”
