“…The efficacy of PdNPs depends on their size, shape, physical and chemical properties, and cell type. 59 , 73 For instance, PdNPs with an average size of 5 nm potentially induce cytotoxicity by inducing loss of cell viability, proliferation, and increasing cell death rate and leakage of LDH. Similarly, several studies have reported the cytotoxic effect of PdNPs in various types of cancer cells, including human ovarian cancer cells.…”

“…However, when a thick Pd film (2 nm) was deposited onto the bilayer aluminosilicate, two very distinct film morphologies were observed by AFM/STM, LEEM, and X-ray photoemission electron microscopy (XPEEM). 282 First of all, as evident by XPS depth profiling measurements, most Pd permeates through the hexagonal cages in the aluminosilicate framework (Al 0.35 Si 0.65 O 2 /Ru(0001)). The bilayer nature of the aluminosilicate framework was preserved after Pd deposition, in which the characteristic phonon mode at 1276 cm −1 was attenuated in intensity but remains unaltered in frequency.…”

“…It has been established that single Pd atoms can penetrate the bilayer silica film. However, when a thick Pd film (2 nm) was deposited onto the bilayer aluminosilicate, two very distinct film morphologies were observed by AFM/STM, LEEM, and X-ray photoemission electron microscopy (XPEEM) . First of all, as evident by XPS depth profiling measurements, most Pd permeates through the hexagonal cages in the aluminosilicate framework (Al 0.35 Si 0.65 O 2 /Ru(0001)).…”

“…The XPS data were acquired at room temperature using a lab-based ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy system (a Phoibos 150 NAP spectrometer with a 1D delay line detector, SPECS GmbH) and a monochromatic Al Kα X-ray source (1486.6 eV, ∼0.25 eV linewidth) focused on the sample to a spot size <300 μm. The single-crystal samples were prepared by repeated cycles of Ar + sputtering and annealing using previously reported procedures until the samples were determined to be free of contaminants by XPS. , The previously characterized single-layer overlayer of Pd on Ag(111) and Ag on Pd(111) was synthesized by deposition of 0.15 monolayers (ML) of Pd on Ag(111) and 0.50 ML of Ag on Pd(111) at 300 K using an electron beam evaporator with an evaporated metal flux of ∼0.09 ML min –1 . , The data were fitted after a Shirley background subtraction of the region containing both spin–orbit splitting peaks with a sufficiently large energy range that the high energy background counts are constant over several eV (Figure S3). A Shirley background is justified to account for multiple scattering processes, which affect an experimental XPS asymmetry and are not accounted for by the DFT + WW method.…”
