Mortality trend analysis of ischemic heart disease in China between 2010 and 2019: a joinpoint analysis

Abstract: Background This study presented the mortality trend of ischemic heart disease (IHD) in Chinese residents from 2010 to 2019 and provided a basis for further establishment of relevant interventions. Methods Data, such as sex, age, urban and rural areas, and death status, were extracted from the China Death Surveillance Dataset from 2010 to 2019, with mortality and age-adjusted death rates (AADRs) as the main indicators. The joinpoint regression model… Show more

“…Joinpoint regression analysis has been used extensively in previous studies of trends in cardiovascular disease [ 21 ]. In our study, using Joinpoint software (version 4.9.1.0) to calculate average percent changes (APCs), average annual percent changes (AAPCs), and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for disease-specific mortality rates, it was possible to analyze the magnitude and direction of difference in IHD mortality attributable to smoking over a 30-year period [ 22 ]. All analyses were performed with p < 0.05 as the level of statistical significance.…”

“…In IHD, coronary artery stenosis or occlusion leads to reduced myocardial blood perfusion, resulting in a series of clinical ischemic symptoms ( 3 ). With advancing age, the prevalence of IHD significantly increases, as it is an aging-related disease ( 4 ).…”
