“…In Nigeria 11,27,28 and other parts of the world, 3,29 raising levels of education delays age at marriage and age at first delivery while increasing opportunities for better paying jobs. Furthermore, women in the developed countries delay child bearing and have few number of children compared to the high fertility rate of 5 or more in the sub-Saharan African countries.…”

As per UNFPA, the girl with adolescent pregnancy bears end of her education along with shrinking away from her job prospects and her vulnerability to poverty and exclusion increases [ 22 ].…”

“…3 Child brides are more likely to experience physical or sexual intimate partner violence, to face health risks from early pregnancy, and to leave education early. [4][5][6] In addition to economic benefits, participation in secondary education is strongly associated with reductions in adolescent birth rates, mortality rates among 15-19 year old boys and girls, and maternal mortality among 15-24 year olds. 3 While there has been significant progress in recent years in increasing enrolment and retention in primary school, among those countries with available data, India has the highest number of out-of-school adolescents, globally, with 11.1 million adolescents of lower secondary school age and 46.8 million of upper secondary age estimated to be out-of-school in 2013.…”
