Motivating and Shaping Scientific Argumentation in Lab Reports

Abstract: This study evaluates an iterative design experiment in an introductory lab course in which instruction was restructured and uncertainty in lab activities was increased. It is proposed that these changes to the rhetorical context helped motivate and shape more authentic engagement in scientific argumentation.
