MRI Compatible Planar Material Acoustic Lenses

Abstract: Zone plate lenses are used in many areas of physics where planar geometry is advantageous in comparison with conventional curved lenses. There are several types of zone plate lenses, such as the well-known Fresnel zone plates (FZPs) or the more recent fractal and Fibonacci zone plates. The selection of the lens material plays a very important role in beam modulation control. This work presents a comparison between FZPs made from different materials in the ultrasonic range in order to use them as magnetic reson… Show more

“…The greatest density was obtained for the sample containing 2.5% of the 63−40 μm fraction. The experimentally determined neat PLA density is in agreement with the literature value [ 33 ]. In parallel, densities of the samples printed out for bending tests were measured and the results are given in Figure 14 .…”

“…Additionally, positions of common cockle and mussel in the water column could influenced MP exposure in those species. Indeed, ABS density is greater than seawater (Tarrazó-Serrano et al, 2018) and will tend to sink to the bottom explaining the large proportion of this polymer contaminating cockles sampled at BA (Fig 2A). However, cockles from BdV (Fig 2A) are contaminated by PE, PP and PS although their densities are lighter than seawater (Andrady and Rajapakse, 2017).…”

“…For reference we have included the velocity of ABS, PLA, and PMMA manufactured using traditional means. 22,23 The Ultimaker and Form 2 specimens have ultrasonic speeds similar to those of standard materials, while the ABS printed on the uPrint is substantially lower than the "traditional" stock material.…”
