“…A spill scenario was modeled using MELTSPREAD that was inspired by the "maximum credible accident" of the Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE), in which a small fraction of the total salt volume is spilled onto the containment floor. This scenario is described in Beall et al (1964) and Beall and Guymon (1965). For the MSRE spill scenario, the total volume of spilled salt was limited to 4 L at an assumed leakage rate of 12 L per hr -1 , the total volume of fuel salt was 70 ft 3 (approximately 2000 L), and the total cell volume was 18,000 ft 3 (approximately 500,000 L).…”
