Abstract: BACKGROUND: Cerebral vascular malformations (CCMs) are primarily found within the brain, where they result in increased risk for stroke, seizures, and focal neurological deficits. The unique feature of the brain vasculature is the blood-brain barrier formed by the brain neurovascular unit.
