“…The maps of the azimuth calculated with either Lu-Chipman decomposition (Fig. 1c) or Eqs (2)(3)(4)(5) demonstrate the compelling similarity. The drop in values of linear retardance in the central zone of the specimen (see Figs 1(b,c)) is highly likely related to either presence of underlying crossing fiber tracts or out-of-plane orientation of the fiber tracts.…”

“…The complete Mueller polarimetry represents a non-contact optical modality that is widely used in both clinical and pre-clinical studies of biological tissues. 1,2 However, the utility of polarimetric information acquired via each of 16 measurement channels is difficult to assess because of non-linear data compression algorithms of the complete MMs that are commonly used for the meaningful physical interpretation of tissue optical properties, namely, its diattenuation, retardance and depolarization. Several studies have reported the results on using the reduced number of MM elements for the analysis and diagnosis of tissue.…”

“…The group recently launched a multiyear, in-depth clinical project, which has been awarded a Swiss National Science Foundation Sinergia grant 205904. After 3 years of the HORAO conference, we have already published a series of promising preclinical results [ 49 - 53 ].…”
