Multi‐camera traffic scene mosaic based on camera calibration

Abstract: Recently, the traffic application based on vision in the single traffic‐monitoring scene has been widely studied and developed. However, cross‐regional research is still in its infancy. In order to help solve the application of cross‐regional traffic surveillance scenarios, this paper proposes a more reliable and accurate road scene mosaic method under multi‐camera surveillance. The mosaic road panorama contains physical information, which can be used to achieve a cross‐regional measurement. It also lays the f… Show more

“…To complete road space fusion in cross-camera scenes, the relationship between 2D image space and 3D world space must be derived through camera calibration. In this paper, we refer to the study [31] and our previous work [32,33] to define coordinate systems and camera calibration model, and choose the single vanishing point-based calibration method VWL (One Vanishing Point, Known Width and Length) to complete the calculation of calibration parameters.…”

“…In [6], [7] proposed different ideas to tackle this problem. Another issue is the narrow viewing range of monitoring which has been delt with by [8], [9] through using multiple cameras to extend the perspective. Tracking techniques have also been attached to vehicle counting as a beneficial capability of using vision-based traffic assessment.…”

“…In recent years, panoramic images have been extensively employed in ground remote sensing applications, including street image acquisition, traffic monitoring, virtual reality, robot navigation and mobile mapping applications, etc. [1][2][3][4][5]. At present, there are mainly two types of panoramic imaging methods on the market, namely catadioptric imaging and multi-camera imaging methods.…”
