“…The computed values for Ali Observatory at Shiquanhe are appended to Table 1. Long-term measurements are currently unavailable, but the computed values grossly agree with the numbers derived from measurements taken in 2012-2014 (Liu et al 2015;Wang et al 2015;Yao et al 2015). In general, the astroclimatology of Shiquanhe Observatory is in par with other sites listed in Table 1.…”

“…Comparison between the long-term medians derived from the CFSR data and in-situ measurements for Cerro Chajnantor (Giovanelli et al 001a,b;Yoshii et al 2010), Cerro Tolonchar (Schöck et al 2009), Hanle (Cowsik et al 2002) and Mauna Kea (Morrison et al 1973;Bely 1987). The medians derived from recent measurements in 2012-2014 (as asterisked; see Liu et al 2015;Wang et al 2015;Yao et al 2015), along with the calculated CFSR values for Shiquanhe Observatory, are given at the end of the table.…”

“…Figure 2 shows their local topographical maps and photos. Both Ali and Daocheng sites have already been constructed and being monitored (Yao et al 2014a;Yin et al 2014;Liu et al 2015;Wang et al 2015;Yao et al 2012;Liu et al 2012;Yao et al 2013;Wu et al 2016;Liu et al 2016) for a relatively long time. Preparation works for the Muztagh Ata site only began after the initiation of LOT project in late 2016.…”

“…Early efforts have been made by the community and have been reported in papers such as (Liu et al 2012;Yao et al 2013;Yao et al 2014b;Liu et al 2015;Wang et al 2015;Qian et al 2015;Wu et al 2016;Liu et al 2016). However, due to differences in data definitions, data acquisition instruments, and data processing methods, etc., results from these various site testing programs are not directly comparable and cannot help in reaching a consensus conclusion.…”

“…The Tibet Ali site is considered to be one of the best sites in east Asia (Liu et al 2015a;Ye et al 2016) and has been selected as one of the potential sites for the LOT. The site-testing data are obtained with the method discussed in Liu et al (2010), Liu et al (2013) and Liu et al (2015b). Because this method does not allow ground-layer turbulence measurement, we will set the GLAO system telescope to 100 m lower than the lowest layer of measured turbulence-profile data, and randomly select two nights of site-testing data with different seeing conditions to show the performance variation in these conditions.…”
