“…Chitosan activity has shown activity against several species of seedborne pathogens (Table 1). Treating pearl millet with chitosan under field conditions reduced infection of Magnaporthe grisea (Bhardwaj et al, 2022), and on seeds of Triticum spelta, reduced the severity of Fusarium culmorum (Buzón-Durán et al, 2020). Under greenhouse conditions, groundnut seed treatment with chitosan and chitosan-polyethylene glycol blend containing Trichoderma harzianum led to a decrease of Aspergillus niger infections (Prasad et al, 2020).…”

“…In this experiment, the radicle length of fenugreek seedlings due to chitosan (0.5 g L −1 ) was significantly higher (3.76 cm) over the control (2.26 cm) and carbendazim (3.34 cm). Bhardwaj et al [33] evaluated different pearl millet (Pennisteum glaucum) seed treatments including chitosan that were sown in several experiment fields in India regarding blast disease caused by Pyricularia grisea. The application rate of chitosan seed immersion was 0.5 g kg −1 per liter of water and resulted in a blast severity reduction ranging from 4.7% to 26.9%, depending on the field location and growing season.…”

“…Currently, pearl millet is grown on 6 hundred thousand hectares in USA (Myers 2002) and 5 million hectares in Brazil (França & Miyagi 2012) as a forage crop. Recently, it has expanded area to about 1 million hectares in India as a forage/fodder crop https://doi.org/10.17221/93/2022-CJGPB in summer as well as in the rainy season and farmers are demanding high yielding single/multi-cut cultivars with a better forage quality to meet their livestock feed demands (Amarender Reddy et al 2013;Bhardwaj et al 2022).…”
