Multi-models-based engineering of collaborative systems

Abstract: The work presented in this paper is based on a synergistic approach [1] integrating models of operators' tasks (described using the HAMSTERS notation) with models of the interactive system (described using the ICO notation) they are using. This synergistic approach makes it possible to bring together two usually independent (but complementary) representations of the same world. Even though supported by modeling and simulation tools, previous work in this area was rather theoretic focusing on concepts and princ… Show more

“…CIRCUS has been used on multiple case studies including Air Trac Control workstations [55], large civil aircraft cockpit interactive applications [4] and satellite ground segments [55]. Each of these application domains brought specic concerns that resulted in extensions to both the notations and the tools.…”

“…Tasks of the EXEC ATCo are described using the HAMSTERS notation [9] and [4] (see Figure 5). The notation presented in [7] explicitly supports collaborative activities among users but this is not exploited here as we focus only on the work of the PLAN ATCo. This notation can also be used not only to describe nominal activities of operators but also the errors they may perform and the activities necessary to recover from them [3].…”

“…Only the single user high-level task types are presented here but they can be further refined. For instance the cognitive tasks can be refined in Analysis and Decision tasks [12] and collaborative activities can be refined in several task types [10].…”
