Multi-project scheduling problem with human resources based on dynamic programming and staff time coefficient

Abstract: The effect of personnel qualified degree to tasks has an important role for solving multi-project human resource constrained scheduling problem. This paper conducts research on multi-mode multi-project human resource constrained scheduling problem based on dynamic programming method. First, this paper put forward the concept and estimated formula of the staff time coefficient from the perspective of how to match staff and task based on the improved cube model and establish the mixed integer programming model. … Show more

“…Based on the proposed model, managers can select labors according to their ability and combine them to assure the highest possible overall work efficiency. Chen et al studied an integrated multiproject scheduling and multiskill human resource assignment problem based on staff time coefficient. The purpose of the proposed model is to minimize the completion time of projects and total execution cost.…”

“…As shown, the activity processing time depends on the slope of processing time and maximum possible undercoverage and overcoverage. Equation (28) forces z mjt to be 1 if and only if activity j in project m is active. Equation (29) ensures that each activity must be executed completely whenever it starts.…”

“…Chen et al [15] addressed the specific process of deducing the estimation formula of the staff-time coefficient as follows: First of all, establish a coordinate system with time (t), quality (q), and cost (c). The cuboid in Figure 1 established according Table 1 is on behalf of the activity of the project .…”

“…However, the exact workload of each staff was not estimated in the model [14]. Chen et al studied the relationship between work efficiency and activity time, and quantified activity workload by using time rating [15]. Lv et al studied the project scheduling problem considering the difference of flexible resource capability and proposed a particle swarm optimization algorithm based on activity sequence representation [16].…”
