Multibody simulation of a rope-driven automated people mover

Abstract: In this paper, a multibody model of the automated people mover, PisaMover, is presented. PisaMover is a rope-driven small train, composed of a few cabins, which makes use of train-inspired bogies. The aim of the model was to support the design of the architecture of the suspensions and to select the proper characteristics of the elastic and damping elements in order to fulfill comfort needs of passengers and to resolve the constraints related to the layout of the vehicle and the guide-ways. For this purpose, a… Show more

“…To predict and assess the dynamic loads occurring during the transportation, a multilevel approach has been followed which proved to be effective in the simulation of the dynamic behaviour of vehicles, Bucchi et al (2018), Bertini et al (2018), and the transportation of large assemblies of cryomodules, Neri et al (2020). A MB simulation with a combination of flexible and rigid bodies using MB and FE software has been used to simulate the dynamic behaviour of the system with a particular focus on coupler components.…”

“…This paper proposes a novel structure inspired by a train or roller coaster [13], comprising a guide made of cementitious material that constrains a cart for longitudinal movement. The cart moves over the pavement on four wheels, similar to a car, and features a system of wheels and springs that keep it aligned with the rail guide.…”
