Multicomponent adsorption equilibria of nonideal mixtures

Abstract: Experimental gas-solid adsorption measurements were made on the binary and ternary mixtures of H,S, CO,, and C,H, on H-mordenite molecular sieve zeolite at 30°C. The C, H, containing binaries and the ternary mixture exhibited nonideal behavior, as evidenced by the azeotropelike crossovers in the composition domains and by the peaks in the total amount adsorbed surface. The ternary data were successfully predicted with the activity coefficients calculated by the spreading-pressure-dependent equation. Models tha… Show more

“…The crossing of the x-y curves at x , = 0.55 indicates that IAS and HIAS theories (Valenzuela et al, 1988) are mutually consistent. Both theories are also consistent with the experimental data (Talu and Zwiebel, 1986), and can be made 0 Experimental points of Talu and Zwiebel(1986) to agree quantitatively by introducing activity coefficients. If a theoretical x-y curve does not intersect the experimental curve, then the discrepancy cannot be explained by surface-phase activity coefficients.…”
