The growing concern for sustainability is evident, given the importance of guaranteeing resources for the next generations, especially in the face of increasing energy consumption in buildings. Regardless of the context, people seek comfort, which makes investigating Indoor Environmental Quality crucial. This covers aspects such as indoor air, temperature, noise and lighting, positively impacting quality of life, reducing stress, saving energy and promoting health, well-being and productivity. A literature review was conducted using the Scopus and PubMed databases to analyze technological advances and challenges in managing healthy and sustainable environments, focusing on the relationship between Indoor Environmental Quality and the Sustainable Development Goals. Initially, 855 articles were identified, of which 123 were selected based on established criteria. Three research questions (RQs) were formulated, leading to the following conclusions. (i) The assessment of sustainability in buildings is crucial, encompassing economic, social and environmental aspects. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of adapting energy strategies, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through the utilization of advanced technologies that promote healthy and efficient environments. (ii) Evaluations have evolved, ranging from energy savings to human well-being and mental health, including disease prevention strategies. (iii) Challenges in managing the promotion of Indoor Environmental Quality include excessive resource consumption, emissions and economic–environmental balance.

This research explores the complex nexus between sustainable development and green tourism across a representative set of 30 countries. To ensure robustness against potential endogeneity issues, the advanced Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimator is utilized for the analysis. Concurrently, key macroeconomic variables such as the GDP per capita, the literacy rate, and the population growth rate, along with environmental performance as captured by the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), are introduced as control variables. The findings reveal a notable positive correlation between sustainable development and green tourism, highlighting the integral role of green tourism in advancing sustainable development. This study also identifies complex associations between sustainable development and the control variables. Positive correlations are observed with the GDP per capita, the literacy rate, and the EPI, while the population growth rate exhibits a negative correlation with sustainable development. The outcomes underline the necessity of integrating sustainable tourism and environmental strategies into the wider discourse on sustainable development. This study provides substantial empirical insights into the multifaceted interplay of economic, social, and environmental factors, offering important implications for policymakers and academics alike. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of sustainable development determinants and set a robust groundwork for the design of balanced, comprehensive development strategies.

The high rate of population growth led to migration from rural to urban settlements, causing unregulated growth, urban sprawls, and inefficiencies in city planning of developing countries. yet, in regions like Yemen, rapid urbanization poses significant challenges for urban planners. Addressing these challenges, this study proposes an innovative approach to urban planning in the context of Ibb City, Yemen, a region grappling with rapid urbanization and inefficient land use. The study identifies a significant gap in the integration of strategic planning and technological tools in developing urban areas. The study utilized SWOT technology to examine the internal and external factors, the AHP method to prioritize the factors to make them measurable, and GIS geospatial zonal analysis. This integrated approach provides a comprehensive evaluation of internal and external factors affecting urban land use, with a focus on quantifying priorities for sustainable urban development. The study's results offer a detailed assessment of the social, economic, infrastructure, and environmental aspects of Ibb City, highlighting the interaction between these elements in urban planning. Importantly, the findings extend beyond the local context, presenting a scalable and adaptable model for urban planning, particularly in developing countries with similar urban dynamics. The study underscores the critical role of strategic, data-driven planning in fostering sustainable urban environments, offering significant insights and tools for policymakers and urban planners for sustainable urban growth.
