Multifunctional weak measurement system that can measure the refractive index and optical rotation of a solution

Abstract: In this study, we propose a multifunctional weak measurement system that can measure the optical rotation and the refractive index of solution. The center wavelength of the output spectrum of such a system is sensitive to the optical rotation and the phase difference produced by total internal reflection. The optical resolution and refractive index resolution of the solution determined by the proposed method were 3.26 × 10–5° and 3.93 × 10–7 RIU, respectively, by measuring different concentrations of glucose s… Show more

“…The axes of QWP1 and QWP2 were initially set at the horizontal and vertical direction, respectively. Based on the assumptions of previous studies [8], [13]- [16], it can be assumed that the pre and post polarization states are approximately represented as follows:…”

“…In addition, while the weak measurement theory is mostly presented for a single particle, e.g., a single photon, it could be understood either quantum mechanically or classically, and the effect of amplification is identical for classical light beams [24]- [26]. For a WVA phase measurement system achieved by a classical light beam, the photon frequency can be replaced by the spectral distribution of the light beam [27]- [29]. Thus, an inaccurate spectral distribution model will cause systematic errors in the pointer shift.…”
