Multihop RIS-Assisted FSO-RF System Over Double Generalized Gamma Fading

Vinay Kumar Chapala,
S. M. Zafaruddin

Abstract: Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is a promising technology to avoid signal blockage by creating virtual lineof-sight (LOS) connectivity for free-space optical (FSO) and radio frequency (RF) wireless systems. This paper considers a mixed FSO-RF system by employing multiple RISs in both the links for multihop transmissions to extend the communication range. We develop probability density function (PDF) and cumulative density function (CDF) of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for the cascaded channels by c… Show more

“…Furthermore, in free-space optical (FSO) wireless system, multi-hop RIS-assisted system was proposed to create line-of-sight connectivity and avoid signal blockage. The authors in [14] VOLUME 11, 2023 considered a multi-hop RIS-Assisted FSO-RF system in which the communication range is expanded over double generalized gamma fading. In [15], a mixed FSO-RF wireless communication system was designed by employing multiple RISs to realize multi-hop transmissions for reliable connectivity of moving vehicles.…”
