Multilayer dielectric filter design using a multiobjective evolutionary algorithm

Abstract: Design of multilayer dielectric filters involve the identification of suitable dielectric material and appropriate thicknesses of the layers that best satisfies the desired frequency response for the application. Such problems, like any other practical design optimization problem require simultaneous consideration of multiple objectives and constraints. In this paper, we introduce a multiobjective evolutionary algorithm that is capable of handling unconstrained and constrained, single and multiobjective proble… Show more

“…Many methods have been proposed to design broadband graded media radome walls. Generally, they can be classified into three types of methods, such as analytical methods [6][7][8][9], hypotheses formulation methods [10,11] and numerical optimization methods [11][12][13].…”

“…But it is difficult to construct a graded material model in these software packages because of the complexity of dielectric constant distribution. In [12], a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm is presented to design multi-layer dielectric filter. When the permittivity of each layer is given, its thickness is optimized at a certain incident angle.…”

“…Thus, to design the multilayer dielectric thin films and to optimize their coating conditions, a reflectivity spectrum simulation of these optical thin films is an essential tool. Various numerical simulations have been successfully applied in the design and synthesis of multilayer optical thin films with predetermined spectral response [5][6][7].…”
