By means of one‐step RT‐PCR, RNA dot blot and RT‐PCR analyses in situ , it was shown that the mRNA of the gene is expressed in various cells of the central nervous system, in endocrine cells of the gut, in the ovary, the fat body, and the flight muscles of adult female crickets (Wang et al ., 2004a,b). Whereas the peptides encoded by the B‐type allatostatin preprohormone of G. bimaculatus are known to inhibit JH biosynthesis, those deduced from the D. melanogaster preprohormone still await functional characterization.…”
