The last three decades have seen a shift and impressive progress in the biometric technologies landscape. Several major real‐world applications of biometrics have been released and are currently being used around the world. At the same time, several new biometrics modalities have emerged and have started making an impact in securing sensitive data, information, and systems. We present in this paper a survey of traditional and emerging biometrics by emphasizing their connection to human body parts, behavior, and cognition. A review of the state of the art in the key technologies is carried out along with a discussion of major applications currently available in the real world.

Biometrics is widely used as a solid feature in the check-in of the individual identity. Recognition of persons based on biometric attributes could give a safe access in different locations. The identification of an individual could be firmly based on distinctive elements derived from his physiological and / or behavioral characteristics. Up to now researches have shown that the ECG signal could be used as a biometric signal undoubtedly identifying any individual. In this article the authors have developed a system based on the processing of growth velocity QR of the slope.

Biometrics is the science and technology of measuring and analyzing biological data of human body for increasing systems security by providing accurate and reliable patterns and algorithms for person verification and identification and its solutions are widely used in governments, military and industries. Single source of information in biometric systems are called unimodal systems and are perfect but they often suffer from some problems when they face with noisy data such as: intraclass variations, restricted degrees of freedom, spoof attacks and non-universality. Several of these problems can be solved by using multimodal biometric systems that combine two or more biometric modalities. Various methods, fusion levels and integration strategies can be applied to combine information in multimodal systems.
