Multiphase Inductive Power Transfer Box Based on a Rotating Magnetic Field

Abstract: The industrial use of inductive power transfer systems is becoming widespread ranging from monorail systems, motors, people-movers and battery charging applications. This paper proposes a three-dimensional inductive power transfer system driven by a multiple phase power converter. This is aided by spice circuitry simulation of the power converter, finiteelement-assisted software magnetic frequency analysis and via implementation of the proposed system. The proposed system consists of a cubic power transfer pri… Show more

“…In the optimisation loop, the partial impedances of the power channel and the signal channel are calculated, respectively, according to (2) and (7). The next step is calculating the voltage gains of the power and signal channels and the interference according to (4), (6) and (9). Finally, the values of the constraint functions can also be found out from (13)- (16).…”

“…Wireless power transfer (WPT) was originally proposed at the end of the 19th century to transfer power utilising near-field magnetic or electric fields, and it has already attracted the broad attention of researchers in the world, recently [1][2][3][4]. As the development of technology continues on this area, WPT techniques have been extensively researched and applied in many fields such as consumer electronics [5], electrical motors [6,7], medical implants [8], [9], and transportation systems [10,11] owing to its advantages in flexibility, convenience, and safety.…”

“…Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology that offers a way to transfer electric power through air or other another nonconductive medium has more advantages than traditional conductive charging technology [1][2][3]. In recent years, WPT technologies have been widely studied and many commercialized products have been released in low-power and highpower applications [4][5][6][7], such as consumer electronics [8][9][10][11], electrical machines [12][13][14], biomedical devices [15][16][17][18][19], and transportation systems [20][21][22][23][24][25]. Among the WPT technologies, inductive power transfer (IPT) and capacitive power transfer (CPT) are the two main types in which a magnetic field or an electric field is utilized for power transmission, respectively.…”

“…Mei et al [20] investigated a two-phase WPT system consisting of two orthogonal transmitter coils, which generated the rotational magnetic field by employing a phase-shift angle control method. Raval et al [21] proposed a 3D inductive power system driven by a multiple-phase power converter, which produced a rotating magnetic field by generating phase quadrature currents.…”
