Multiple-Genome-Based Simple Sequence Repeat Is an Efficient and Successful Method in Genotyping and Classifying Different Jujube Germplasm Resources

Bin Li,
Noor Muhammad,
Shufeng Zhang
et al.

Abstract: Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) is a commercially important tree native to China, known for its high nutritional value and widespread distribution, as well as its diverse germplasm resources. Being resilient to harsh climatic conditions, the cultivation of jujube could provide a solution to food insecurity and income for people of arid and semi-arid regions in and outside of China. The evaluation of germplasm resources and genetic diversity in jujube necessitates the use of Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) markers.… Show more

“…Notably, the cultivation area of jujube trees in the northern region of Shaanxi Province alone has expanded impressively to cover 125,000 hectares [10]. As a result, this sector has become a vital pillar in the region's economy, serving as the primary source of income for farmers and making substantial contributions to the agricultural sector as a whole in northern Shaanxi [11,12]. However, the prevalence of "clean cultivation" in rain-fed jujube orchards in China, resulting from traditional management practices and farmers' mindsets, has given rise to a range of issues [13,14].…”
